Growing together II is the second print run using the same block I carved and printed with to raise money in support of the black lives matter protests. All profit from this block goes towards the charity black minds matter uk. Though it should be noted that this print run uses a different shade of ink and is printed on fine Japanese printing paper.

Together we can grow the movement. Thanks to the black lives matter movement I have learnt a lot (and unlearnt) about racial discrimination here in the uk. And while there is still much work to be done to end the systematic racism in this country, this Lino print is my first step as an ally to help raise awareness and hopefully raise some money to donate to the cause. I will not profit from this print, but will be donating everything bar the cost of materials, to Black Minds Matter uk. A charity organisation that helps “connect black individuals and families with professional mental health services across the uk”. As someone who has spent a lot of time in therapy i know the difficulties in finding the right match with a therapist who you feel understands and can help you. Its hard enough finding a good match, but when i think of what it must be like to face discrimination or judgement for being black/BAME while also struggling with a mental illness… i don’t want that to happen to anyone. Access to a mental health professional who doesn’t racially discriminate, who is used to working with other cultures and ethnicities, who understands racism, inherited trauma or oppression is what BMMuk is there for. To find out more about this organisation please visit www.blackmindsmatteruk.com This time printed on fine Japanese paper using a blend of black and burnt sienna inks making this prints unique. These prints also differ in size to the original to reduce paper waste.
